Here in Cowlitz County today (December 04, 2007) we having a nice sunny day (unusual) for this time of year weather, not to mention what we have experienced the last few days. This nice day is drastically deferent from the raging rain and windstorm we had the last couple days.
We had some snow on Saturday and early Sunday, rained like crazy on late Sunday and most of the day Monday. Despite all that we were lucky to get away with only flooded streets, branches and trees over roads, some schools closures, slow traffic and some warnings that the Cowlitz River may over flow.
Other areas around the Northwest weren't so lucky. The Chehalis/Centralia area was hit hard in the Washington side, according to the The Daily News the freeway (I-5) was shut down yesterday from exit 68 to exit 88 due to high waters and probably will remain close for the next couple day; this is the first freeway closure since the big storm of 1996.
Across the Columbia River on the Oregon side, Clatskanie and surrounding areas were one of the most affected places according to the news. This area was completely crippled by the storm highways 30 and 47 were shut down, many businesses and homes were reported damage.
Luckily the worst is over lets hope now that we don't get any more dad storms like this one and the nice weather with sunny days continue.
