Why The Taxes Are So Low On This Home?

I often get calls from potential home buyers normally looking at my Cowlitz County real estate website asking why taxes are low on specific property compared to the rest of the homes they are looking at.

The following is usually my response; there are different reasons why taxes are lower on specific property than similar properties in Cowlitz County but the most common reason is Senior Citizens or Disable Property Tax Exemptions. Here is a list of the Cowlitz County property tax relief programs.

I saw a few listings in my areas with a very, very low tax listed on the listing; most of the time the taxes listed were from previous year where there were no buildings--taxes were for the and only.

Very informative and helpful blog for buyers. Taxes is an important part of ones monthly expenses when considering a purchase.

Wika - that is common with new construction because it takes the county a year or two to update tax information but I don't remember any calls about low taxes on new homes, I'm assuming that because buyers compare taxes with other new homes on similar situation.

Sarah & Les - property taxes are something that can not be over looked on a buyer's monthly expenses.

Thanks for stopping by.
